Every Wednesday, in partnership with Bro Morgannwg and Swansea
NHS Trusts, Local Aid volunteers support trained physiotherapists working with
children who have a range of physical disabilities.
Cimla Riding School, Neath, hosts the afternoon, for children
of all ages. Many children and young people continue to ride at local stables
following their sessions with Local Aid. Children who attend are able to experience
the chance to touch, ride and enjoy the horses and surroundings.
They are encouraged to participate in several physiotherapy
exercises including honing their concentration, hand eye coordination, balance,
touch and smell. They gain sensory experiences, build confidence; enjoy the
animals and the fresh air.
